This Privacy Policy explains how WTE Solutions, the maker of Catholics.app ("we," "us"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Catholics.app trivia game on the web, as an installed app, or through our iOS app (together, the "Service").
Account information. If you create an account, we collect your player name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure cryptographic hash — we never store your actual password).
Gameplay information. We record your game results and progress: scores, in-game currency balance, accuracy, medals, achievements, play history, and which questions and mini-games you have been shown (so we can avoid repeating content and improve the game).
Usage and device information. We automatically collect technical information when you use the Service: screen views, activity timestamps, IP address, browser/device type (user-agent), and app version. This is used for security, to measure how many people are playing, and to improve the Service.
Guest play. You can play without an account. Guest play generates a random identifier stored on your device so we can count active guest players and remember which questions you've seen. If you choose to tell Brother Theo a first name or nickname, it is stored with that guest identifier so the game can greet you; sharing it is optional, and it is otherwise not linked to your name or email unless you later create an account.
Local storage. The Service stores gameplay data (such as your guest identifier, settings, and sign-in tokens) on your device using browser storage so the app works offline and keeps you signed in.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We use our own first-party analytics (described above). We may also use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage; where used, these services receive technical usage data (such as pages viewed and approximate location derived from IP) under their own privacy terms.
We share information only with service providers who help us run the Service (such as cloud hosting and database providers), when required by law, or to protect our rights and the safety of players. We may share aggregated, de-identified statistics (for example, total daily players) that cannot identify you.
Account and gameplay data are kept while your account is active. Server logs and activity records are retained for a limited period for security and analytics, then deleted or aggregated. If you delete your account, we anonymize your personal information (name, email, credentials) promptly; de-identified gameplay statistics may be retained.
The Service is a general-audience app suitable for families. Accounts are intended for users 13 and older (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
The Service is operated from the United States. If you use it from other regions, your information will be processed in the United States.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date; material changes will be highlighted in the app.
